Momina Rani, a talented young athlete from Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir, has brought pride to Pakistan by winning a silver medal at the Women’s Vishwa National Championship held in Gujrat.
This achievement showcases her dedication, hard work, and athletic abilities on a competitive national platform. Despite limited resources and support, Momina managed to secure second place among top female athletes, demonstrating the potential that exists among Pakistani sportswomen when given opportunities to compete.
Following her victory, Momina expressed a strong determination to achieve even greater success in the future. She stated that with proper government support, training facilities, and encouragement, she could proudly represent both Kashmir and Pakistan on international platforms.
Her confidence reflects the untapped talent present in Pakistan’s regions, particularly among female athletes who often face additional social and financial barriers to pursuing sports careers. Momina believes she has the potential to win medals at global competitions if provided with appropriate resources.
However, Momina also voiced serious disappointment over the lack of recognition and assistance from Pakistan’s sports authorities. She revealed that despite winning a silver medal at a national championship, she has received neither any financial reward nor even an official invitation or acknowledgment from the sports board.
This neglect highlights a broader problem in Pakistan’s sports system, where athletes, especially women from smaller cities and regions, struggle to receive support even after achieving success.
Momina made an urgent appeal to the government and sports authorities to take practical steps toward supporting and motivating female athletes across the country.
She emphasized that with proper encouragement, training facilities, coaching, and financial assistance, Pakistani sportswomen can bring much greater honor to the nation on international stages, but this requires genuine commitment rather than just words from officials.
