After receiving international certification, Pakistan’s President House was named the world’s first green presidential secretariat.
According to local media reports, President House of Pakistan has earned the distinction of being the first presidential secretariat to receive ISO 50001 EnMS certification.
President Dr. Arif Alvi has successfully reduced the country’s energy consumption by over 35%, saving the government Rs72.5 million every presidency.
“The Aiwan-i-Sadr (presidency) also received GBC SEED Platinum since the building is now totally powered by an in-house 1-MW Solar System,” according to a news release from the presidency. Abdur Razzaq Lakhani of SGS presented Project Director Shahid Shaukat with the ISO 50001 EnMS certificate, and Rashid Bashir of the Green Building Council presented him with the GBC SEED Platinum accreditation.”
