Pakistan’s Rs.10 Coin and Rs. 75 Note Still Struggling To Find Acceptance in Daily Transactions

The Rs10 coin was issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on October 24, 2016, and SBP also issued the Rs. 75 currency note last year. The 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence was celebrated with the release of the green banknote. 5/ The front of the note has images of the four founders: Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, and Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.  Jameel Ahmad, the governor of SBP, signed it.

Both are still widely used but are mostly unknown to most people.

At one of the checkout registers at a busy supermarket in Clifton said, “I accept all these coins, but then no one accepts them from me when I’m returning change”. He frowned at the mention of the Rs. 10 coins, which was unusual for the man.

“I’ve now gathered a little sack full of these Rs. 10 coins. They are not required,” he claimed.

A State Bank of Pakistan spokeswoman told that any commemorative notes or coins released by the SBP are entirely good and suitable for market transactions. This includes the commemorative Rs10 coin and Rs75 note.
