Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Riyadh announced on Wednesday a young Pakistani athlete had won a gold medal for table tennis in the prestigious Saudi Games 2022.
The biggest national sporting event of the kingdom, the games were launched under the Vision 2030 program. It also places significant emphasis on sports and physical activities to produce a new generation of athletes.
The largest national sporting event in Saudi Arabia’s history is the Saudi Games.
It was held in Riyadh from October 27 to November 7, 2022, and more than 6,000 athletes took part. The competitors participated in 45 individual and team competitions, including five events specifically designed for Paralympic sports.
Pakistan’s Sarooj Sajid Hussain, won the gold medal during the sporting event this year.
“Congratulations,” said the Pakistan embassy in Saudi Arabia on Twitter. “We are super proud of our shining star Sarooj Sajid Hussain, a student of Pakistan International School, Al Khobar, KSA. Sarooj secured a gold medal for table tennis in the @SaudiGames2022.”
The sporting event aims at providing a platform for Saudi athletes to excel to their best potentials and inspiring youth through sports. It also demonstrates the Kingdom’s capabilities globally in hosting the largest events.
