Passenger Spots Employee Putting Tape on the Wing of a Plane Before Takeoff

A passenger on board a Spirit Airlines flight has sworn off flying with them again after she saw someone sticking tape to the engine before takeoff.

While the airplane was stationary at Nashville International Airport, @myhoneysmacks, a TikTok user from Alabama, captured the maintenance repair through her window seat.

‘This is the exact reason why I don’t fly with spirit. I don’t care if it is aviation airplane tape or nothing,’ she said at the start of the 37-second video. 

The video showing maintenance repair on a Spirit Airlines flight using tape has gone viral, amassing over 4.5 million views and generating thousands of comments from social media users who voiced their worries about the safety of air travel.

While some defended the use of tape for minor repairs as a common practice in aviation, the incident underscores the crucial need to prioritize safe and high-quality maintenance work on airplanes.
