PaySa Secures In-Principle Approval from the State Bank of Pakistan to Operate as an EMI

In a landmark move toward revolutionizing Pakistan’s digital financial landscape, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has granted In-Principle Approval (IPA) to PaySa to operate as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI). This milestone marks a significant step in advancing financial inclusion by providing secure, accessible, and cost-effective digital payment solutions to individuals and businesses nationwide.

Unlike conventional EMI approvals focusing on consumer and merchant wallets, PaySa’s authorization extends beyond these services, encompassing an additional business segment for POS and QR acquiring. This expanded scope positions PaySa as a key player in fostering an interoperable and inclusive digital payment ecosystem.

Since its inception in 2022, PaySa has been committed to democratizing financial services, ensuring that digital payments are not a privilege but a fundamental right for all. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships—such as its collaboration with Meezan Bank—PaySa is deploying POS terminals and accelerating the adoption of digital transactions across Pakistan. The company aims to empower banked and unbanked populations with seamless, low-cost, and efficient payment solutions.

Under this EMI license, PaySa users will gain access to a suite of digital financial services, including e-money accounts, instant money transfers, bill payments, QR and debit card transactions, and cash withdrawals. These services will be available with minimal friction, ensuring financial accessibility for underbanked communities and small businesses historically excluded from digital finance.

“Our mission is to break down barriers in financial services and bring the future of digital payments to every corner of Pakistan,” said PaySa CEO Ali Adnan. “By offering user-friendly, secure, and cost-effective solutions, we are not just facilitating transactions—we are fostering economic growth and financial empowerment.”

As the country embraces digital transformation, PaySa’s commitment to financial inclusion and innovation will make payments more accessible, interoperable, and secure for all.
