The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a major boost in prize money for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) starting from the 2026 season. The decision aims to reward team performance as well as encourage franchises to invest in the long-term growth of cricket in Pakistan.
According to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the team that wins PSL 2026 will receive 500,000 US dollars, while the runner-up will get 300,000 US dollars. This marks one of the biggest prize pools in PSL history.
In addition to rewarding the top teams, the PCB has introduced a new category: a 200,000 US dollar prize for the franchise that contributes the most to cricket development. This includes efforts such as running youth academies, improving coaching programs, developing young talent, and investing in cricket infrastructure in different regions.
The PCB stated that this change is meant to push franchises to focus not only on winning matches but also on supporting grassroots cricket. Mohsin Naqvi explained that strengthening youth development and improving facilities across the country will help Pakistan cricket grow stronger in the coming years.
The board also announced that the auction for two new PSL franchises will take place on January 6, 2026. Six cities are being considered for the new teams: Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.
With increased prize money and new development incentives, the PCB hopes that PSL 2026 will bring more competition, better talent grooming, and stronger support for cricket at every level across Pakistan.
