PCB Issues Legal Notice to Naseem Shah Over Social Media Post Targeting CM Maryam Nawaz

During the opening ceremony of PSL 11 at Gaddafi Stadium, a controversy arose when chief guest Maryam Nawaz was introduced by Mohsin Naqvi, sparking questions about protocol.

The issue escalated after a post appeared on cricketer Naseem Shah’s X (formerly Twitter) account, which questioned the introduction procedure.

Naseem Shah later clarified that his account had been hacked and that he did not post the content. Despite this explanation, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued a show-cause notice to the fast bowler. The notice cited potential violations of contractual obligations and media policy, underlining the importance of following professional guidelines.

The PCB emphasized that adherence to protocol and integrity is critical for all players and staff involved in the league. The show-cause notice means that Naseem Shah’s participation in the ongoing PSL season could be affected pending the outcome of the disciplinary review.

Officials stated that the board is committed to maintaining high professional standards in all aspects of the Pakistan Super League, including player conduct, public communications, and media interactions.

They also noted that while cyber threats like account hacking are increasingly common, players are expected to report any misuse promptly and follow procedures to protect the league’s reputation.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion among fans and media, highlighting the importance of clear communication and protocol during high-profile events like the PSL opening. The PCB has assured that it will handle the matter fairly and transparently while reinforcing the league’s professional and ethical standards.
