Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of civic responsibility, stating that citizens must actively participate in maintaining a clean environment, rather than relying solely on the government.
Speaking at an environmental awareness event, she praised Japan’s waste management model, noting how people there are personally accountable for separating, disposing of, and recycling their own waste. She said this culture of responsibility has made Japan one of the cleanest nations in the world.
Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized that Pakistan can achieve similar results if every citizen adopts the same mindset. “Governments can build systems,” she said, “but real change comes when citizens do their part.”
She added that the government is working on multiple clean and green initiatives, but these efforts will only succeed with public cooperation and awareness.
Her statement comes as part of a broader campaign to promote environmental responsibility and create a culture where cleanliness and sustainability become a shared national value.
