Peshawar BRT becomes 3rd in Asia to Receive Gold Standard Award

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) congratulated ZuPeshawar, the operator of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, on receiving the International Gold Standard Satus (IGSS), noting that Peshawar, Pakistan, has now officially become the first city in the subcontinent, third in Asia, and 11th in the world to receive the Gold Standard.

Dr. Walter Hook, a member of the Tech Committee that assesses world-class Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), handed the standard to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s minister Kamran Bangash, according to the ADB’s official Twitter account.

In a ceremony conducted in Peshawar on Thursday, the award was given to the ADB-funded BRT project.

In his remarks, province minister for Higher Education Kamran Bangash stated that Pakistan was the seventh country to obtain the IGSS award, while only six countries had previously received this honour in the public transportation sector.
