The price of petrol has now gone up by Rs. 14.91 per litre, reaching Rs. 293.23. High-speed diesel has also seen a sharp jump of Rs. 18.29 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs. 290.38.
Officials explained that the adjustment was made due to higher global oil prices in recent weeks, which directly affect local fuel costs. These changes are expected to increase transport fares and the overall cost of goods, as diesel is widely used in agriculture, goods transportation, and industries.
Consumers have expressed concerns over the frequent price hikes, stating that it is becoming harder to manage household budgets.
Many fear that this increase will trigger a new wave of inflation, as prices of essential items are closely linked with fuel costs. The revised prices have taken effect immediately and will remain in place until the next review.
