Petrol Prices likely to Drop by Rs. 80 Per Litre in Pakistan

Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are likely to witness a substantial reduction, with reports suggesting a possible decrease of up to Rs80 per litre. This anticipated drop comes in the wake of a significant decline in global oil prices, triggered by a ceasefire between Iran and the United States that has eased geopolitical tensions and stabilized energy markets.

According to sources, the government is currently working on a comprehensive relief package aimed at passing on the benefits of lower international oil prices to the public. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is in the final stages of preparing its pricing recommendations, which will be submitted for approval.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to review and give final approval to the revised petroleum prices. If approved, the new rates are likely to come into effect from April 11, 2026.

The potential reduction in fuel prices is expected to provide much-needed relief to citizens who have been grappling with rising inflation. Lower fuel costs could also lead to a decrease in transportation expenses, which may, in turn, help bring down the prices of essential goods and services across the country.
