Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that petroleum prices in Pakistan will remain unchanged for the time being, despite the recent rise in global crude oil prices. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the decision has been taken to provide relief to citizens who are already facing financial pressure due to challenging economic conditions in the country. Officials stated that the government carefully reviewed the international oil market before deciding to maintain the current fuel prices so that the public is not burdened with additional costs.
The prime minister emphasized that the government remains committed to supporting the people while maintaining overall economic stability. He noted that increasing regional tensions and fluctuations in international energy markets are contributing to higher oil prices worldwide. Despite these global pressures, the government has chosen not to pass the immediate impact on to consumers in Pakistan.
Authorities also assured the public that the country currently has sufficient crude oil supplies and that the supply chain remains stable. Both federal and provincial governments have been directed to ensure strict monitoring so that petrol and diesel are sold at the officially approved prices across the country. Officials added that action will be taken against anyone found involved in overcharging or creating artificial shortages.
The government said it will continue to monitor developments in the global oil market and review the pricing policy accordingly, keeping in mind both economic stability and public relief.
