PIA has signed a new agreement with Air Karachi, a recently established airline supported by Karachi’s business community. According to the deal, PIA will provide Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services for Air Karachi’s aircraft.
The agreement was officially signed by PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, Air Karachi Chairman Hanif Gohar, and CEO Air Marshal (Retd.) Imran Majid.
This partnership is seen as an important step toward strengthening local aviation and improving cooperation within Pakistan’s airline industry.
Air Karachi was launched in November 2024 with a strong financial backing of Rs5 billion. The airline’s goal is to improve air travel from Karachi and make the city a more active hub for domestic and possibly international flights.
Although Air Karachi has not yet started its flight operations, the signing of this agreement shows that the airline is making steady progress. Working with PIA for MRO services means Air Karachi can rely on experienced professionals to ensure the safety and performance of its aircraft when operations begin.
This partnership also helps PIA generate revenue through its engineering and maintenance expertise, which has long been recognized in the aviation sector. Both companies see this as a win-win situation that promotes growth and trust in the local aviation market.
Officials from both sides expressed confidence that this cooperation will set the foundation for strong and efficient operations once Air Karachi officially takes to the skies.
