At auction, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) out-of-service ATR aircraft sold for Rs8.3 million. The outdated plane that was sitting at Gilgit Airport was auctioned off to a scrap dealer in the area.
Officials said the aircraft’s engine and other pieces were sold by weight. The auction was launched in response to a report from the technical department of the national airline. After its operational life was up, the plane was retired.
