On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a major reduction in electricity prices, bringing significant relief to the people of Pakistan.
Speaking at a special event, the prime minister shared that the government had decided to lower the electricity tariff by Rs 7.41 per unit. He described this as an important step in easing the financial burden on households and businesses.
“I have come with good news about Pakistan’s economic progress, just in time for Eid,” PM Shehbaz said. “Today, we have fulfilled the promise made by Nawaz Sharif in our party’s manifesto.”
He explained that the decline in global oil prices was now being passed on to the people in the form of lower electricity bills. He also mentioned that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had agreed to support this move, making it possible for the government to provide relief to the public.
This reduction in electricity prices is expected to benefit millions of people across the country, helping them cope with rising living costs and making Eid celebrations even more special.
