PM Shehbaz Sharif Announces 150% Increase in Executive Allowance of Grade 17-22 Govt Officers

According to a government announcement, federal secretariat officers in grades 17 to 22 would get a 150 percent executive allowance on top of their base pay in 2017. After speaking with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the statement. The choice has been made to remove pay disparities for Federal Secretariat officers. The decision will be put into practise on January 1st of this year.

The decision is being made when numerous, unprecedented threats are being placed on the nation’s economy. It is like rubbing salt into the wounds of those who are already having a hard time surviving through it.


Because there are not enough letters of credit (LCs) for imports, the country’s foreign exchange reserves are dropping, the PKR is weakening, and there may soon be a shortage of basic commodities.


The price of petrol has increased by 35 rupees per litre. Two days prior to the regular fortnightly review, the federal administration was forced into announcing the increase in the price of petroleum. 

Petrol pump owners across the country pushed the government towards a premature decision as they created an artificial shortage, anticipating an increase of Rs. 50 per liter based on social media rumors.
