Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan on Thursday to take part in the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit being held in Khankendi from July 3 to 4. The summit is focused on the theme “New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate Resilient Future.”

Leaders from across the ECO region are gathering to discuss key issues like improving trade, boosting regional connectivity, and tackling climate-related problems. Prime Minister Shehbaz is leading Pakistan’s delegation at the event.

During the summit, PM Shehbaz is expected to share Pakistan’s views on both global and regional matters. He will speak in favor of stronger trade links among ECO member countries and stress the need for fair climate policies, also known as climate justice.

The Prime Minister is likely to encourage cooperation between countries in the region to face shared challenges more effectively.

In addition to addressing the summit, PM Shehbaz will also hold one-on-one meetings with other ECO leaders. These bilateral discussions aim to strengthen Pakistan’s relations with its regional partners and explore new areas for collaboration in trade, development, and environmental protection.

The summit provides an opportunity for Pakistan to play a stronger role in regional cooperation and voice its commitment to sustainable development. PM Shehbaz’s participation reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to promote economic growth, peace, and climate resilience across the region.
