Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been awarded an honorary PhD in Leadership and Governance by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in recognition of his contribution to public service and education reform.
The honorary degree was presented by the Queen of Pahang, who praised Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, dedication to improving governance, and efforts to promote quality education in Pakistan.
She also commended his initiative, the Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF), which has enabled thousands of deserving students to pursue higher education.
In his speech, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to IIUM and the Queen of Pahang for the honor. He said it was a privilege to be recognized by one of the leading Islamic universities in the world.
Reflecting on his decades of public service, he shared that his work has always been guided by the values of honesty, hard work, and service to the people.
The Prime Minister highlighted that education is key to building strong and prosperous societies. He called for greater collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia in education, research, and innovation to strengthen ties and contribute to the progress of the Muslim world.
Shehbaz Sharif also encouraged leaders and scholars across Muslim countries to focus on youth empowerment, ethical leadership, and unity to overcome shared challenges.
The ceremony was attended by Malaysian officials, diplomats, and academic representatives, who appreciated Shehbaz Sharif’s long-standing efforts for governance reform and educational development.
