PM Shehbaz to Attend ‘Select Muslim Leaders’ Meeting With Trump at UNGA

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will represent Pakistan at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, starting September 22, 2025.

According to the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will join a select group of Muslim leaders in a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the session. The discussion will focus on regional and global peace and security challenges.

During his address to the General Assembly, PM Shehbaz is expected to draw attention to pressing humanitarian concerns, including the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the struggle of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

He will outline Pakistan’s position on these issues while also emphasizing the need for peaceful resolutions.

The Foreign Office said the Prime Minister will also present Pakistan’s views on a wide range of global challenges such as regional security, climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development. These themes are expected to be central to his speech, reflecting Pakistan’s priorities on the world stage.

In addition to his address, PM Shehbaz will take part in high-level side events, including meetings on the Global Development Initiative and Climate Action.

He will also hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and senior UN officials. These interactions aim to promote Pakistan’s vision of peace, conflict prevention, and stronger multilateral cooperation.

Pakistan’s active participation at the UNGA reflects its commitment to addressing global issues while also ensuring its national interests and regional concerns are heard at the highest international platform.
