Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has spoken out about keeping politics separate from sports.
He emphasized that cricket should bring nations together, not divide them. Akram urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) and various cricket boards to show fairness and allow players from all countries to participate freely in international leagues.
He said that political issues should not affect sports or the opportunities of players. “Sports are meant to unite people and promote friendship across borders,” Akram noted, encouraging cricket authorities to act with fairness and courage in making their decisions.
Akram also took the opportunity to praise Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam. He highlighted Babar’s impressive record as the second-highest run-scorer in T20 cricket, appreciating his consistent performances and leadership on the field.
The former captain said that Babar’s dedication and talent continue to inspire young cricketers in Pakistan and around the world. He added that with the right support and opportunities, players like Babar can continue to make Pakistan proud on the global stage.
Wasim Akram’s comments serve as an important reminder that sports should remain a platform for unity, respect, and healthy competition, free from political influence and boundaries.
