A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck Sulawesi Island in Indonesia, according to the country’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency. The earthquake happened at a depth of 10 kilometers below the sea, which is considered relatively shallow.
Even though the tremors were powerful and caused many people to rush out of buildings in fear, no tsunami warning was issued. Experts explained that the earthquake was not likely to cause large sea waves, so there was no immediate danger from a tsunami.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of people being hurt or major damage to buildings so far. However, authorities are continuing to monitor the situation very carefully. They are asking everyone in the area to stay alert, remain calm, and follow any safety instructions from officials.
