President Dr Arif Alvi has ordered HBL (Habib Bank Limited) to payback Rs249,525 to a cook who got scammed and his money was fraudulently transferred from his account by fraudsters.
The president instructed all the banks to caution their customers about banking scams on daily basis.
It was also directed to improve the communications with clients and to aware them with such online banking frauds including online fund transfers by Dr Arif Alvi.
He added that innocent people who doesn’t have knowledge are more often trapped by fraudsters and swindled their hard earned money through fake calls, sometimes even from the banking premises.
President also announced the directives on a petition filed by Habib Bank Limited against a decision of the federal ombudsman.
