Price of chicken meat in Karachi has increased significantly due to the outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle, and is selling at Rs 580 per kilo.
The price of chicken is skyrocketing in Karachi and the meat sells for Rs 580 in the port city, causing trouble for the masses, according to details.
The price of chicken was recorded at Rs 370 per kg for live birds and Rs 570 per kg for meat in Karachi.
Live bird was available at Rs190-210 per kg while meat was sold at Rs350-380, during the month of February. The Sindh government has also shut down livestock markets across the province because of the emerging outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) caused by a vector-borne virus.
The Livestock and Animal Husbandry Department of the Government of Sindh has notified the closure of livestock markets and also advised against the consumption of meat and milk from infected animals across Sindh including Karachi.
