The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association has expressed strong disagreement with the Punjab government’s decision to extend summer vacations until September 1. The association believes that keeping schools closed for such a long period will negatively affect students’ education and academic progress.
The decision to extend the holidays was announced by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, who cited the ongoing heatwave and health concerns as the main reasons. However, the association pointed out that schools in Islamabad reopened on August 4, and other provinces have already resumed classes. They warned that keeping students out of classrooms for almost three months will slow their learning and make it harder to prepare for board exams. The association suggested that schools should reopen with proper safety measures in place or resume in phases, starting with board exam classes.
