PTA renews cellular licenses of three operators in AJK and GB

According to the news, PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has renewed licenses of three cellular mobile-phone companies for Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan at a charge of $40.5 million for a term of 15 years.

Telenor Pakistan, PMCL (Jazz), and PTML (Ufone) are the three cellular mobile operators and have deposited an expense of Rs 3.19 billion (50 percent of the PTA determined license fee) against their license renewal fee with the PTA.

On Wednesday, the license renewal signing ceremony was held at the PTA headquarters, Islamabad Amir Azeem Bajwa; PTA chairperson and CEOs of Telenor, Jazz, and Ufone along with senior agents of these cellular mobile operators (CMOs) attended the meeting.

On the occasion, chairperson PTA praised the attempts of the mobile network operators for has been playing an important role in supplying the ability to connect throughout these regions. He also respected the vigorous efforts of concerned officials of PTA, FAB, and MoIT for the timely decision of the renewal process.

 He went on to say that AJ&K and GB are the major areas of tourism in Pakistan and the license renewal would pave the way for the supply of 3G/4G and Next Generation Mobile Phone Services to the customers of these regions as well to the tourists. 

Ongoing efforts have been made to bring in state-of-the-art telecommunications services to much-hurled areas allowing for the ability to access a variety of opportunities for companies, education, and health.
