The Punjab government has officially confirmed the dates for this year’s winter break in all public and private schools across the province. The announcement has brought clarity for parents, teachers, and students who were waiting for the final schedule as temperatures continue to fall.
According to the new plan issued by the School Education Department, winter vacations in Punjab will start from December 23, 2025.
All schools will remain closed during this period, and regular classes will begin again on January 12, 2026. This means students will get a little over two weeks to stay indoors, rest, and enjoy the winter season.
Officials explained that the break has been scheduled to align with the weather forecast, which predicts colder days and dense smog in several major cities.
The department noted that smog and low temperatures often make it difficult for children to travel safely to school especially in the early morning hours. Because of these concerns, the government decided it was best to give students a proper winter holiday.
The notification also applies to private schools, which will be required to follow the same dates to ensure uniformity across the province. The government emphasized that the safety and health of children are the top priorities, and any changes in the weather will be closely monitored.
Parents have welcomed the decision, saying it will help them plan family schedules, travel, and study routines more easily. Teachers also appreciated the early announcement, as it allows them to prepare academic calendars and assessments without disruption.
With the winter break now officially finalized, students across Punjab are counting down the days until their holidays begin.
