Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced a major scholarship scheme worth Rs25 billion aimed at helping deserving students pursue their education at some of the country’s top institutions, including LUMS and GIK.
This initiative by the Punjab government will ensure that the tuition fees for these students are fully covered, allowing them to focus on their studies without financial worries. In addition to covering fees, the scheme will also include special awards and honors for students who achieve outstanding academic results.
During the launch, Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of providing equal opportunities for both male and female students, emphasizing that every talented student deserves a chance to excel regardless of their background. She praised the hard work and achievements of students across Punjab and highlighted the government’s commitment to bringing significant reforms to the education sector.
Among the new initiatives she announced are a school meal program, which will ensure that students receive proper nutrition while at school, and the introduction of electric bikes to make transportation easier for students. There will also be a special scholarship specifically for FSC students to help them continue their education.
Moreover, Maryam Nawaz unveiled plans to establish Pakistan’s first university dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) within the Nawaz Sharif IT City, marking a significant step towards modernizing education and technology in the country.
In addition to her educational initiatives, Maryam Nawaz also took the time to visit flood-affected areas in Rajanpur, where she met with residents and assessed the damage. She assured the people that the government is committed to providing them with the necessary support and assistance during this difficult time.
Through these actions, Maryam Nawaz is not only promoting education but also showing a commitment to addressing the broader needs of the people in Punjab.
The scholarship scheme, along with the other educational reforms, is part of a broader vision to uplift the standard of education and ensure that all students have the resources they need to succeed.
