Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a landmark Rs 100 billion rehabilitation package for flood victims across the province.
The Flood Victims Rehabilitation Programme aims to help families rebuild their lives after recent deluges devastated homes, crops, and local infrastructure.
Under the new initiative, affected households will receive cash grants to cover immediate needs such as food, clothing, and medical care. To ensure everyone can claim their entitlement, the CM unveiled free transport services that will ferry families safely to designated relief centers. This measure is designed to remove barriers for those in remote or hard-hit areas.
Emphasizing accountability, Maryam Nawaz Sharif vowed that “every rupee will be transparently used” for victims’ welfare.
She reassured the public that the Punjab treasury belongs to the people, and independent audits will track disbursements at every stage. Beneficiaries can also access a helpline for queries or to report any misuse of funds.
Highlighting Punjab’s self-reliance, the CM stressed that all relief and rescue efforts were launched without seeking foreign assistance. Local agencies, NGOs, and volunteers are already on the ground, coordinating food distribution, temporary shelter, and medical camps in the worst-hit districts.
As Pakistan faces one of its toughest flood seasons in years, this massive provincial package sends a strong message of solidarity.
With swift action and clear oversight, Punjab aims to expedite recovery and restore normalcy to thousands of families still recovering from the storm’s aftermath.
