Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has started a major program to help people with disabilities by giving them free assistive devices across the province.
The program, which is worth Rs1 billion, includes tools like artificial limbs, hearing aids, manual and electric wheelchairs, tricycles, and more. Each device will be customized according to the person’s needs to help improve their daily life.
At the launch event, more than 300 people attended to support and celebrate this important step. Punjab has also become the first province in Pakistan to introduce advanced bionic technology for the rehabilitation of disabled persons, marking a big milestone in healthcare and support services.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also instructed that ramps should be built in all government buildings so that people with disabilities can access them easily. In addition, elevators will be installed in field hospitals to ensure better movement and comfort for patients with mobility challenges.
To make things easier, citizens can now register online to receive these devices directly at their homes. This will save time and make the process more convenient for those in need.
Alongside this program, Maryam Nawaz also announced Pakistan’s biggest ration card initiative, which will help 1.25 million families by providing them with essential food items.
These efforts show the Punjab government’s strong commitment to supporting the disabled community and helping low-income families. With better access to medical devices and basic needs, thousands of people across Punjab will be able to live with more comfort, independence, and dignity.
