Punjab Government Bans Use of Loudspeakers in Mosques Across the Province, Except for Azaan

The Punjab government has announced a province-wide ban on the use of loudspeakers in mosques, except for the call to prayer, or Azaan. This decision has been taken to reduce noise pollution in cities and residential areas and to ensure public peace and order.

Under the new rules, loudspeakers cannot be used for sermons, announcements, or any other activities inside mosques.

The government believes this step will help create a calmer environment for residents while still respecting the religious practice of calling the faithful to prayer.

Officials have asked all religious institutions to strictly follow the guidelines and cooperate with authorities. They emphasized that compliance is important not only for legal reasons but also to maintain harmony and peaceful coexistence among communities.

The decision reflects the government’s effort to balance religious practices with the rights of citizens to a quieter living environment.

Cities and towns often experience high levels of noise during peak hours, and uncontrolled loudspeaker use has been a significant concern for many residents.

By allowing loudspeakers only for the Azaan, the government aims to preserve cultural and religious traditions while ensuring that urban life remains peaceful.

This policy also encourages mosques and community leaders to find alternative ways to communicate announcements and teachings without causing noise disturbances.

Authorities have assured that monitoring and enforcement measures will be put in place to make sure the ban is respected across the province. Communities are encouraged to support this initiative so that cities can become more livable and peaceful while maintaining respect for religious practices.

This move is expected to set an example for other regions, showing that it is possible to balance tradition with modern urban living through thoughtful regulation and community cooperation.
