Punjab Govt to Introduce 28 Electric Buses in Gujrat Starting December 2025

The Punjab government is all set to introduce a fleet of 28 electric buses in Gujrat starting December 2025, as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision for green and sustainable transport across the province.

Assistant Commissioner Bilal Zubair, along with officials from the Regional Transport Authority and Municipal Committee, conducted a detailed site visit to review proposed routes, charging stations, and bus stop locations.

The project aims to provide modern, comfortable, and eco-friendly public transport to residents while helping reduce noise and air pollution in the city. The electric buses will operate on key routes connecting major urban areas, ensuring convenient access for daily commuters and students.

Authorities have been directed to speed up infrastructure development, including the installation of charging points and passenger facilities, to ensure smooth implementation before the launch date.

Officials emphasized that this initiative reflects the government’s broader plan to modernize Punjab’s transport system, reduce carbon emissions, and encourage clean energy adoption in urban mobility.

Once fully operational, the Gujrat electric bus service is expected to serve thousands of passengers daily, offering a reliable and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional fuel-based transport.

The project not only aligns with Pakistan’s climate sustainability goals but also strengthens Punjab’s position as a leader in green innovation and smart city development.
