Under new policy changes in the province’s public-sector schools, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) will soon launch a contest called “College of the Year.”
The department has also established a policy process for recruiting eligible applicants for vacant college principal roles. The transition was made as part of the department’s reform agenda, which aims to create a competitive educational climate that follows international trends and practices.
According to the policy, prospective candidates’ suitability would be assessed after a rigorous review by a special committee. Candidates will be graded based on seniority, competence, relevant administrative experience, and work aptitude; all related characteristics will be quantified, and placements will be made accordingly.
Public-sector colleges will be evaluated based on the quality of education provided, campus discipline, teaching staff methodology, and smooth administrative operations, among other factors.
