Punjab authorities have issued a high alert in several districts as the water level in the Sutlej River has risen to very dangerous levels. To protect people from the risk of flooding, more than 19,000 residents have already been safely evacuated from their homes. Emergency teams are working around the clock, especially with new heavy rains expected between August 24 and 27.
District administrations in Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, and Vehari are paying special attention to people living near the riverbanks. Families are being moved to safer places, and relief camps have been set up to give them shelter, food, clean drinking water, and medical care. Medicines and vaccines are also being provided to prevent the spread of diseases. Rescue teams are continuously helping people relocate and requesting full cooperation so that everyone can remain safe during this emergency.
At the same time, the situation in Gilgit-Baltistan is still very serious after recent floods. Many families have lost their homes and belongings, with more than 3,000 people displaced in the Ghizer district alone. Authorities there are working to provide temporary shelters, food, and other basic supplies so that survivors can manage until conditions improve.
