Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered a strict crackdown across the province to stop the public display of weapons and the misuse of Toyota Hilux pickup trucks. This action is part of a larger effort to improve law and order and make the streets safer for everyone. The newly formed Crime Control Department (CCD) has been given the responsibility to enforce these rules firmly and without exception.
Additional Inspector General Sohail Zafar Chatha stated that showing off weapons or using vehicles to display power is completely unacceptable. These actions create fear among ordinary people and disturb public peace. The government wants to put an end to this culture of fear and restore a sense of safety across Punjab.
To monitor and catch violators, CCD will make use of more than 21,000 Safe City surveillance cameras across the province. They will also use modern artificial intelligence tools to identify people carrying weapons or misusing vehicles in public places.
The Toyota Hilux, also known locally as “Vigo Dala,” has become a symbol of status and power in recent years. Unfortunately, it is often used by individuals trying to show authority or avoid law enforcement. This misuse has become a serious concern for public safety.
By taking strong action against such behavior, the Punjab government hopes to reduce crime, promote discipline, and ensure that no one feels above the law. The crackdown is a step toward building a safer, more respectful environment for all citizens.
