Punjab to Launch 680 Electric Buses Worth Rs. 40 Billion

The Punjab Assembly has announced a plan to introduce 680 environmentally friendly electric buses at a total cost of Rs 40 billion. Punjab’s Minister for Transport, Bilal Akbar Khan, shared this initiative with assembly members, explaining that the goal is to improve public transportation across the province.

In addition to the electric buses, Minister Khan revealed that Pink Buses will soon be launched to serve women exclusively. These Pink Buses will operate on 16 routes in Lahore, providing a safer and more convenient transportation option for women.

The distribution of the new electric buses will be as follows: 300 buses for Lahore, 100 for Multan, 110 for Faisalabad, and 42 for Bahawalpur. This initiative demonstrates the Punjab government’s dedication to sustainable transport solutions and enhancing mobility for all residents, particularly women.

By investing in these electric buses, the government aims to reduce pollution and provide a cleaner, more efficient public transport system. The introduction of Pink Buses is a step toward creating a more inclusive transportation network that addresses the specific needs of women, ensuring they have access to safe and reliable public transport.

This project not only underscores the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also highlights their focus on improving the quality of life for residents through better transportation options. The new electric and Pink Buses are expected to significantly enhance public transport services, making it easier for people to commute while also contributing to a reduction in the province’s carbon footprint.
