Punjab University (PU) has been honored as the “Best Improved Institution – Asia region” by the QS World University Rankings, marking a significant achievement for Pakistan.
This accolade was presented to PU at the EduData Summit held in Washington DC, where Pakistan Embassy officials Bilal Akram and Bilal Riaz accepted the award on the university’s behalf.
PU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, expressed pride in the university’s remarkable progress. He highlighted PU’s ability to compete with top universities in Asia and credited the institution’s effective budget management as a key factor in this achievement.
Over the past few years, PU has made impressive strides in the QS rankings, moving up to 570th position this year. This is a notable improvement from last year’s ranking of 740-750, and even more so from the 800-1000 range it occupied from 2019 to 2022.
Dr. Mahmood attributed this success to the hard work and dedication of PU’s faculty, staff, and students. He emphasized that their collective efforts have played a crucial role in the university’s enhanced standing on the global stage.
This recognition as the “Best Improved Institution” not only highlights PU’s significant advancements but also underscores the potential of Pakistani educational institutions to achieve excellence on an international level.
