The Punjab Government has announced a remarkable 70% decrease in Lahore’s air pollution after successfully using anti-smog guns in the Kahna area.
Officials revealed that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the region dropped sharply from 666 to 170, marking a major breakthrough in the fight against smog.
This achievement is being seen as a big step forward in Punjab’s environmental protection efforts, carried out under the supervision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the newly formed Environmental Protection Force.
The initiative aims to tackle the city’s long-standing air quality problems by using modern and practical solutions to control dust and particulate matter in the air.
The anti-smog guns work by spraying fine water mist into the atmosphere, which helps settle dust particles and pollutants. The trial run in Kahna showed impressive results, giving authorities renewed confidence in expanding the project.
Officials have confirmed that, following the success of this test, plans are now underway to deploy these anti-smog guns in other polluted areas of Punjab, including major cities such as Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi.
The government also plans to integrate these efforts with stricter vehicle emission checks and tree plantation drives to ensure sustainable improvement in air quality.
The positive outcome of this experiment has been widely appreciated by environmental experts and citizens alike. Many believe that if continued on a larger scale, such innovative measures could help make Punjab’s cities cleaner, greener, and safer for everyone in the coming years.
