Qatar has strongly criticized the recent attack on facilities linked to Iran’s South Pars gas field, which it shares with Qatar’s North Field. The statement was issued by Qatari diplomat Majed al-Ansari, who called the action dangerous and irresponsible at a time when tensions in the region are already increasing.
He said that targeting energy infrastructure is a serious concern because it can threaten global energy security. Such attacks may also put nearby populations at risk and cause harm to the environment. According to him, energy facilities are essential for many countries, and any damage to them can have wide international consequences.
Al-Ansari stressed that all parties should avoid attacking important infrastructure like oil and gas facilities. He urged everyone involved to show restraint and follow international laws that protect civilian and strategic sites. He also called for efforts to reduce tensions instead of increasing them.
The statement reflects Qatar’s growing concern about stability in the region, especially as energy sites play a key role in global supply. The South Pars and North Field gas reserves are among the largest in the world and are vital for energy production and export.
Officials in Qatar believe that protecting such resources is important not only for regional countries but also for global markets that depend on steady energy supply. Any disruption, they warned, could have serious economic and environmental impacts.
