Railway Stations in Punjab Set to Get Free Wi-Fi

Federal Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi, has announced a major improvement plan for Pakistan Railways, with the Main Line-1 (ML-1) project being the highest priority. He shared that the goal is to modernize the railway system and bring it up to international standards, making it safer, faster, and more efficient for the people of Pakistan.

As part of the plan, the Punjab government is expected to invest around Rs350 billion to upgrade eight branch railway lines across the province. In addition to this, they also plan to offer free Wi-Fi at 40 railway stations to improve passenger experience and connectivity.

The federal government is also in discussions with the Sindh government to bring similar railway improvements to the province. Meanwhile, work is already underway to begin preparations for the development of Main Line-2 (ML-2), another key part of the long-term vision for railway expansion.
