The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted another spell of rainfall for the northern and central parts of the country between September 16 and 18.
According to the forecast, a new westerly weather system is likely to bring rain to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Officials have said that while the rainfall will bring some relief from the hot and humid weather, it also carries the risk of flooding in areas that are already sensitive.
People living in low-lying regions, especially those close to rivers and streams, have been advised to stay alert and take safety measures in case of a sudden rise in water levels.
This latest w@rning comes at a time when many communities are still struggling to recover from earlier monsoon rains that caused serious damage to houses, farmland, and infrastructure across different provinces.
Flood recovery teams are still working in several districts, and another round of heavy showers may slow down the process.
Disaster management authorities have also instructed local administrations to remain prepared for possible emergencies and ensure that relief and rescue equipment is in place. Residents have been urged to follow updates from official channels rather than rely on unverified information, so that they can respond quickly if conditions worsen.
While rain is a natural part of the monsoon season, the combination of already swollen rivers and the new westerly system means that extra caution is necessary. Authorities hope that early preparation will help minimize risks and protect lives.
