Rains and Flash Floods Claim 18 Lives in Two Days Across KP and Gilgit-Baltistan

Heavy rains and sudden floods have taken at least 18 lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan over the last two days. Many people are still missing as rescue teams continue their search. Officials have warned that more rain is expected in the coming days, and emergency teams are working around the clock to help affected areas.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has shared that in just 48 hours, 13 people have lost their lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. Among those who died are nine children, three women, and one man. Three more people, including two children, have been injured and are getting medical care.

The heavy rain has also caused damage to many homes. According to PDMA’s first report, 19 houses have been affected so far. Out of these, 17 houses have been partly damaged, while two houses were completely destroyed by the floods and rain.

Rescue teams are working day and night to help people trapped in flooded areas and to assess how much damage has been done. Relief efforts are also underway to provide shelter and basic help to families who lost their homes.

Local authorities are asking people to stay alert and avoid risky areas, especially places near rivers, streams, and landslide-prone zones. As the rain continues, people are advised to keep an eye on weather updates and follow safety instructions from local rescue services to protect themselves and their families from further harm.
