Did you know that Ramadan will be observed twice in the year 2030? The first Ramadan is expected to begin around January 4, 2030, and the second one will start again around December 26, 2030.
This unusual event happens because the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, which is about 10 to 11 days shorter than the Gregorian (solar) calendar used in most of the world. Since the lunar year is shorter, Ramadan moves earlier each year on the Gregorian calendar. Over time, this shift causes Ramadan to appear twice within the same calendar year.
The last time this rare occurrence happened was in 1997. After 2030, it is not expected to happen again until 2063. This makes 2030 a special year for Muslims around the world, as they will experience the holy month of fasting twice in one Gregorian year.
