Record-Breaking! 1,061 Pakistani Doctors Secure Residency Positions in the U.S. in One Year

In 2025, a record-breaking 1,061 Pakistani doctors were selected for medical residencies in the United States. This is the highest number of placements ever in a single year and a proud moment for Pakistan’s medical community.

The President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, praised this great achievement. He said it reflects the high standards of medical education and training in Pakistan. According to him, this success shows how well-prepared Pakistani doctors are for global healthcare systems.

Getting a medical residency in the US is not easy. The process is very competitive and includes passing difficult exams like the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Along with passing these exams, candidates must also show excellent academic records, clinical experience, and strong communication skills.

Many of the doctors selected came from top medical institutions in Pakistan such as King Edward Medical University, Dow Medical College, and Jinnah Sindh Medical University. These institutions are known for producing skilled and dedicated medical professionals.

This milestone is a sign that Pakistani medical qualifications are gaining more respect and recognition around the world. It also gives hope to young medical students in Pakistan who dream of working abroad and making a difference in global healthcare.

The growing success of Pakistani doctors in international programs is not just a personal achievement for those selected, but also a national achievement. It highlights the importance of investing in medical education and continuing to support the next generation of doctors.
