Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, president of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal), has recently stated that his party will not accept any agreement on the Reko Diq gold project that does not guarantee the government of Balochistan a profit of 50%.
“We want a 50 percent profit share for the government of Balochistan in the project, as well as the establishment of a mineral refinery on the site to know how much gold and other minerals have been recovered,” Mr Mengal said after presiding over the BNP’s central committee meeting recently.
If the deal on the Reko Diq project is found to be against the interests of the people of Balochistan, the BNP leader stated his party, together with other parties, will protest in the provincial parliament and other forums.
