The federal government has announced a major tax relief for the salaried class by exempting income tax on monthly salaries up to Rs. 100,000 (Rs. 1.2 million annually). This decision came after successful negotiations with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which actively pushed for this exemption to support middle-income earners.
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari confirmed the development, saying the move will help ease the burden on the working class, especially those who have contributed a record Rs. 437 billion in taxes this year. He added that it’s a fair and much-needed step for those who keep the economy running.
This tax exemption means more take-home pay for millions of workers. At a time when inflation is high and everyday expenses are rising, this move is expected to bring financial relief and improve the quality of life for many families.
With more disposable income, people will have better control over their spending, savings, and household budgets. Experts also believe this will lead to increased consumer spending, which can help boost economic activity across different sectors.
