Romania to Name a Road “Karachi Avenue” to Honor Friendship with Pakistan

Romania has announced plans to name a street in its port city, Constanța, as “Karachi Avenue” to celebrate the deep and friendly ties between Romania and Pakistan. The initiative marks 61 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations and highlights their growing cooperation in culture, trade, and education.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Romanian Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu and Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.

Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening partnerships between the two coastal cities, Karachi and Constanța, known for their maritime importance and economic potential.

As a gesture of mutual respect, a similar proposal is also being considered in Pakistan, where a street in Karachi may soon be named “Constanța Avenue.” Officials believe such symbolic steps will promote stronger people-to-people connections and highlight shared values between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Stoenescu also announced the reopening of Romania’s Honorary Consulate in Karachi, a move expected to enhance business, cultural, and academic exchanges. The consulate will play an active role in facilitating trade partnerships and supporting Romanian citizens and enterprises operating in Pakistan.

This initiative reflects the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Romania, which has continued to grow through collaboration in multiple fields, including energy, education, and diplomacy.

Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation for mutual benefit and to fostering greater understanding between their peoples.
