Rs 114 Billion Recovered in Nationwide Power Theft Crackdown

Pakistan’s government and military have successfully recovered over Rs114 billion through a nationwide crackdown on electricity theft. Since its launch on September 6 last year, the initiative has led to the arrest of more than 84,500 individuals involved in power theft.

In September alone, authorities collected over Rs1 billion from offenders in major cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad.

The campaign aims to address the power sector’s staggering Rs589 billion annual loss, which stems from theft and unpaid bills, following public outrage over inflated electricity costs across the country.
