In four years, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered Rs539 billion from corrupt individuals, a new high compared to prior years.
This was discovered during a meeting to review NAB’s performance at its headquarters, which was hosted by anti-graft body Chairman (retd) Justice Javed Iqbal.
The chairman, citing a four-year report on the bureau’s performance, stated that the NAB was adhering to the policies of “accountability for all” and “self-accountability,” which he proclaimed shortly after taking office in 2017. “A total of 185 policemen have been investigated under the’self-accountability’ programme.
He asserted, “The anti-corruption policy has proven to be quite successful, and reputable national and international organizations have praised it”
During the meeting, it was revealed that the NAB had received 501,723 complaints since its founding, with 491,358 of them being resolved.
According to the NAB, 16,188 complaint verifications were permitted, with 15,391 of them completed. In addition, 9260 of the 10,297 permitted inquiries have been answered.
