Rupee Suffers Significant Losses Against All Main Currencies

The rupee fell for the third straight session, breaking the 152-level mark, weighed down by dollar demand from importers.

In the interbank market, the rupee closed at 153.24 against the dollar, down 0.16 percent from the previous close of 152.99. “We expect the rupee to weaken further in the coming months as the new economic team seeks to boost exports,” said the dealer.

KR depreciated against the Euro by 78 paisas, the Pound Sterling (GBP) by 21 paisas, the Australian Dollar (AUD) by 63 paisas, and the Canadian Dollar (CAD) by Rs. 1.05.
